Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) Student Exchange Program – Academic Year 2027 | Call for Applications

The International College of Digital Innovation (ICDI), Chiang Mai University, is pleased to announce the Student Exchange Program for Academic Year 2027 at Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU), located in Busan, Republic of Korea.

The program offers eligible undergraduate students an opportunity to study at KMOU for one semester or one academic year, gain international academic experience, and develop intercultural communication skills.

Selected exchange students will receive a tuition fee waiver throughout the exchange period. However, participants are responsible for their travel, accommodation, utilities, living expenses, and other related costs.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Chiang Mai University, having completed at least one academic year of study.

2. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.64 out of 4.00.

3. Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English or Korean to undertake academic studies at KMOU.

4. Be in good physical and mental health and capable of completing the exchange program.

5. Maintain active student status at Chiang Mai University throughout the exchange period.

6. Not be awaiting graduation or scheduled to graduate during the exchange period.

7. Return to Chiang Mai University to continue their studies after completing the exchange program.

Academic Information and Course Registration

Exchange students are required to select one primary academic major that corresponds to their current field of study at their home university.

Students wishing to enroll in courses outside their selected major must obtain prior approval from KMOU.

In addition to regular academic courses, KMOU offers Korean language courses at different proficiency levels:

• Basic Korean

• Intermediate Korean

• Advanced Korean

Each Korean language course carries 3 academic credits.

Applicants are encouraged to review course availability and academic compatibility with their current degree program before applying.

Accommodation and Living Arrangements

Exchange students will receive priority consideration for accommodation in KMOU's university dormitories.

Please note that:

• Dormitory room assignments are made through a random allocation system.

• Accommodation fees and meal plan arrangements are subject to KMOU's regulations and applicable conditions.

• Students are responsible for accommodation, meals, utilities, and other living expenses.

Dormitory placement and specific room arrangements are subject to availability and the host university's procedures.

Financial Information

Tuition Fee Waiver

Selected exchange students will be exempt from tuition fees at KMOU throughout their approved exchange period.

Expenses to Be Covered by Students

Participants are responsible for the following expenses:

• International airfare and travel costs

• Accommodation and dormitory fees

• Meals and daily living expenses

• Utilities and personal expenses

• Other expenses associated with participation in the exchange program

Students are advised to plan their finances carefully before applying.

Applicants must prepare the following documents:

1. Application Form

2. Statement of Purpose

3. Certificate of Enrollment

4. Official Academic Transcript

5. Copy of Passport – The passport must remain valid throughout the entire exchange period at KMOU.

6. English or Korean Language Proficiency Test Result (if available)

Important Document Preparation Requirements

• All application documents must be prepared in English or Korean.

• Applicants must use the official forms provided by KMOU, where applicable.

• The format and content of the host university's official forms must not be modified.

• Applicants should ensure that all information is complete and accurate before submission.

Application Procedure for ICDI Students

Interested ICDI students must apply through the ICDI International Relations Unit for internal review and nomination.

Step 1: Review the Program Requirements

Carefully review the eligibility criteria, academic arrangements, and required application documents.

Step 2: Prepare the Application Documents

Complete the official KMOU application forms and prepare all required supporting documents in English or Korean.

Step 3: Submit Documents to ICDI

Submit the complete application documents by email to:

ICDI Internal Application Deadline: October 30, 2026, by 3:00 PM

Step 4: Internal Review and Nomination

The ICDI International Relations Unit will review the submitted applications and coordinate the nomination process through the relevant Chiang Mai University offices.

Important: The ICDI internal deadline is established to allow sufficient time for document verification and nomination procedures. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

Final acceptance is subject to KMOU's selection process and applicable exchange program conditions.
