Chuo University, Japan Opens Applications for the Student Exchange Program 2026–2027

Chuo University, Japan, is now accepting applications for the Chuo University Student Exchange Program for the Academic Year 2026–2027. The program aims to provide students with opportunities to gain academic experience and engage in cultural exchange in Japan.

The exchange programs are offered in a wide range of academic fields, including:
Law, Economics, Commerce, Letters, Science and Engineering, Policy Studies, and Global Management.

The exchange periods are scheduled for:

• April – August 2026, or

• September 2026 – January 2027

Eligible applicants must be Chiang Mai University students currently enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level, and must meet the required GPA and language proficiency standards (English or Japanese) as specified by the host faculties at Chuo University.

Students selected for the program will receive a full tuition fee waiver at Chuo University. In addition, they may apply for JASSO financial support (80,000 JPY per month) or other scholarships, subject to the specified conditions.

Required Application Documents

Applicants are required to prepare the following documents:

1. Study Plan

2. Certificate of Enrollment

3. Official Academic Transcript

4. Copy of Passport

5. ID Photo

6. Proof of Language Proficiency:

   • English: TOEFL iBT or IELTS according to faculty requirements (generally TOEFL ≥ 79 or IELTS ≥ 6.0), or

   • Japanese: JLPT N1 or N2, depending on the host faculty

7. Financial Support Certificate:

   • Bank Statement in English confirming sufficient funds for living expenses in Japan

   • Approximately 1,000,000 JPY for one academic year or 500,000 JPY for one semester

8. Declaration of Financial Support (if using a parent/guardian’s bank account)

9. Medical Check-up Form

10. Recommendation Letter

ICDI can nominate one student only. All application documents must be submitted to Ms. Tanya (Room ICB1103) by:

• 5 February 2026 – for Graduate Students

• 25 February 2026 – for Undergraduate Students
