Announcement: 2025 K-Global Korea Scholarship (K-GKS) for Graduate Students

Chiang Mai University has received a coordination request from Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to promote the 2025 K-Global Korea Scholarship (K-GKS), which provides graduate-level scholarships for students interested in expanding their academic experience in science, engineering, and industry-related fields.

This scholarship aims to enhance students’ educational backgrounds, provide professional training, and increase employment opportunities after graduation. The program offers two study levels:

  1. Master’s Degree Program

    • 1-year Korean language training

    • 2 years of specialized study in the chosen field

  2. Doctoral Degree Program

    • 1-year Korean language training

    • 3 years of specialized study in the chosen field

Scholarship Benefits

The K-Global Korea Scholarship (K-GKS) covers the following:

  • Airfare: One-way economy class ticket to South Korea

  • Monthly Allowance:

    • KRW 1,180,000/month for the Korean language training program

    • KRW 1,310,000/month for the degree program

  • Korean Language Training Fees: Fully funded

  • Tuition Fees:

    • Covered by the local government up to KRW 5 million

    • Additional tuition fees beyond this amount will be covered by the host university

  • Academic Support: Additional financial assistance based on academic performance

  • Health Insurance: Coverage for the entire scholarship period

  • Korean Language Proficiency Bonus: Additional support for students with high-level Korean proficiency

Required Documents for Application

Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Application Forms (Forms 1–7):

    • Form 1: Application Form

    • Form 2: Personal Statement

    • Form 3: Study Plan

    • Form 4: One Letter of Recommendation (signed and sealed by the recommender)

    • Form 5: K-GKS Applicant Agreement

    • Form 6: Personal Medical Assessment

    • Form 7: Consent to Collect and Use Personal Information

  2. Certificates (Apostilled or Consular-Confirmed):

    • Proof of Citizenship and Family Relationship (e.g., birth certificate, family register)

    • Bachelor’s Graduation Certificate (for Master’s applicants) or Master’s Graduation Certificate (for Doctoral applicants)

    • Academic Transcripts from previous degrees

  3. Additional Proofs (if applicable):

    • Proof of Korean Citizenship Renunciation (for applicants or their parents who previously held Korean citizenship)

The application deadline is March 31, 2025, and applicants can apply directly for the scholarship.
