The Election Commission
The Election Commission is comprised of seven commissioners

appointed by the King upon the advice of the Senate . The Election
Commission’s main mandate is to arrange and supervise elections of
members of the House of Representatives, Senators or members of the
local assembly and local administrators, and referendum. It also has the
power to conduct investigation and inquiry, suspend, withhold, rectify, or
cancel the unlawful election, selection or referendum. It also has the power
to suspend the right to stand for election by a candidate for an election or

selection .
The Ombudsmen
The King appoints three Ombudsmen upon the advice of the Senate
from the person selected by the selection committee for seven years and

only one term. The Ombudsmen have the power to recommend the
revision of the law or regulations that cause grievance or unfairness, or
15
impose an unnecessary burden on the people .
The National Anti-Corruption Commission
The National Anti-Corruption Commission consists of nine
commissioners appointed by the King upon the advice of the Senate from
the person selected by the selection committee, with a 7-year term, limited

to one term . It has the power to conduct inquiry and prepare an opinion
in case where there is an accusation that a person holding a political
position, a Constitutional Court judge, a person holding a position in an
Independent Organ or the Auditor-General is involved in a corruption or
exercises powers in contrary to the Constitution or the law or for seriously

contravening on ethical standards .
