The National assembly appoints the Prime Minister and cross-checks
the works of the executive. In turn, the prime minister has the power to
request the King for a Royal Prerogative to dissolve the House of
Representatives for a new general election with Members of the House of
               Representatives.

                       1.1.1.3 Judicial Branch

Prior to the Thai Constitution of 1997, Thailand adopted a single
court system in which the Court of Justice had the competence to try and
adjudicate all cases, except those under the Military Court's power. The
1997 Constitution had introduced a vital reform of Thai judicial structure
by establishing the Courts of justice, the Military courts, the
Administrative Courts, and the Constitutional Court. Since then, Thailand
has adopted the dual court system. The main objectives are to provide legal
redress against public authorities and reinforce the system of checks and
               balances.

According to the present Constitution, the courts in Thailand are
comprised of four different courts: the Courts of Justice, the Military
courts, the Constitutional Court, and the Administrative Courts.
