Call for Applications: Romanian Government Scholarships for Non-EU Citizens (Academic Year 2026–2027)
Chiang Mai University has received an announcement from the Embassy of Romania in Thailand requesting assistance in publicizing scholarship opportunities for foreign citizens from non-European Union countries for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The Romanian Government Scholarship for Foreign Citizens offers opportunities for international students to pursue studies at undergraduate and graduate levels at higher education institutions in Romania. Please note that the scholarship does not cover programs in Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Must be a citizen of a non-EU country.

Must have a minimum academic average of 7 according to the Romanian grading system, or the equivalent of a “Good” academic standing in the most recent level of study.
Applicants who do not have proficiency in the Romanian language will be provided with a one-year Preparatory Romanian Language Program prior to the start of their academic studies. This requirement does not apply to doctoral applicants who choose programs taught in a foreign language.
