Study Abroad in Korea: Scholarship and Preparation Information
Chiang Mai University has received an announcement from the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation requesting assistance in publicizing information on study opportunities and scholarships in the Republic of Korea for Thai students under the Study Abroad in Korea initiative.
Study Preparation Roadmap (Study Road Map)
For students planning to begin their studies in the Fall Semester (September intake), the recommended preparation timeline is as follows:

April: Search for information on faculties and universities of interest through the official website Study in Korea (www.studyinkorea.go.kr). Students are also advised to prepare for language proficiency tests such as TOPIK or IELTS, and arrange for translation and certification of academic documents into English.

May – June: Submit applications directly to the selected universities.

August – September: Apply for a student visa, arrange accommodation, and prepare to begin the academic program.
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
The Global Korea Scholarship provides fully funded support with no service obligation, covering tuition fees, round-trip airfare, living expenses, and health insurance. The scholarship is offered under two categories:

GKS-U (Undergraduate / Associate Degree Programs)

GKS-G (Master’s, Doctoral, and Research Programs)
Additional Benefits
Recipients who do not yet meet the required Korean language proficiency level will receive support for a one-year Korean language training program prior to beginning their academic studies.
